With the way technology keeps advancing every day, many people now prefer using their mobile phones to carry out banking transactions instead of going to the bank and wasting so much time waiting. It is safe to say that every bank now has a ussd code feature to make banking easy and accessible to all regardless of the phone or device you are using.
United Bank of Africa, UBA, is one of those banks that allow customers to perform transactions from the comfort of their homes using ussd codes on their mobile phones.
UBA Code
UBA’s ussd code is *919#. To start using it, you must register on the same mobile number linked to your UBA bank account. First of all, dial *919# on your phone and make sure you have your ATM card with you, or at least you should know your card number because you will need it to proceed.
After you must have dialed the above code, you will be asked to register with your UBA account or by using your ATM card. The instructions on how to register are very easy. Here are the steps:
- After dialing the code, select option 1 to register for the ussd code.
- You can select registering with your UBA 10-digit account number or your UBA prepaid card if you have one.
- If you do not have a prepaid card then select registering with your bank account.
- After you must have entered your account number, you will be asked to create a 4-digit PIN.
- Confirm your 4-digit PIN to finish the process.
If you are already registered, a menu option will be displayed to you.
- Check current balance
- Buy airtime for yourself or others
- Transfer money to other banks or another UBA account
- Pay bills such as DSTV, etc.
- Block ATM card
- Buy data for self and others
- Check bank account statement
- Retrieve Bank Verification Number (BVN)

In a situation where your phone is stolen and you need to deactivate your ussd banking code in other to prevent fraud, quickly dial *919*911# from any phone to stop the UBA ussd code from working on your linked mobile number.
